Our Mission

The Western Australian Substance Users' Association (WASUA) was first incorporated in 1996. Since then our aim has been to improve the health and social circumstances of people who use illicit substances in WA.

WASUA Vision

To improve the health and social circumstances of substance users, utilising a framework underpinned by harm reduction and peer education.

Mission Statement

To provide support, education and advocacy and to reduce transmission of Blood Borne Viruses and the harms and hazards associated with substance use amongst people in Western Australia.

Stratigic Intent

The provision of harm reduction and peer education services to people in Western Australia who use substances and other key stakeholders including but not limited to people who work in the AOD sector, families, parents, carer's, partners of substance users and community members.

Guiding Principles

  • WASUA is WA's state-wide, peer based Drug User Organisation.
  • WASUA's uniquess is our peer based approach which affords access to consumers and information that other agencies may find difficult to attain.
  • WASUA wants to remain in its current core business activity of needle and syringe exchange and harm reduction education and support.
  • WASUA promotes the sharing of knowledge and information that will enable people who are substance users to make informed decisions.
